Register Now for E-rate Training in PA!
September 10, 2013

In order to provide comprehensive training to all levels of PA applicants, several events have been scheduled over the next 3 months. I hope you will plan to attend the one that best meets your needs.

FULL DAY BEGINNERS ON-SITE TRAINING
Due to the high numbers of school and library personnel new to the E-rate program, there will be three in-person, full-day training workshops presented in late October/early-November to assist new applicants. The training will contain details of current program rules, eligible services, CIPA, gift rules, bid evaluations, discount calculations, and each step and form of the program. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the workshop running from 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Each training is identical and lunch will be provided. Also, each attendee will receive a comprehensive 3-inch E-rate Resource Manual that contains copies of the PowerPoint presentation, fact sheets, forms, sample letters, tips, etc. Seating is limited and you must register to attend (see below). There is no fee to attend, but you will be charged $50 if you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice.

BEGINNERS TRAINING WEBINAR - December 4
For schools and libraries that are unable to attend one of the full-day 6-hour trainings conducted at regional locations this fall, a shortened, 2-hour E-rate training session will be held on Wednesday, December 4 from 1 - 3 p.m. This training will be condensed from the on-site training and will only deal with Priority 1 (telecom and Internet) services. Pre-registration is not required, but applicants will be required to list their name and school or library entity upon entering the webinar. If you are new to the program, it is strongly recommended that you attend one of the 3 on-site, full day programs.

VETERANS TRAINING WEBINAR - November 5
A 1.5-hour training webinar will be presented on Tuesday, November 5 from 1-2:30 to provide returning (veteran) Pennsylvania applicants with important changes to the federal E-rate program. This is a webinar you don't want to miss (if you're attending one of the full-day beginners sessions, these topics will be covered during those days.) Pre-registration is not required, but applicants will be required to list their name and school or library entity upon entering the webinar. The following topics will be presented:

-- Changes to the FY 2014 Eligible Services List (exciting, applicant-friendly change made!)
-- FY 2014 Form 471 Application Window Dates
-- New Priority 2 Form 470 Requirements
-- Changes to PEPPM Eligibility
-- Outlook for Priority 2 Funding in 2014
-- VOIP Bundled Handset Eligibility
-- When You Can and Can't Change Service Providers
-- What to Do with Contacts from Telecom Brokers
-- Update to E-rate Reform Efforts
-- Reminders about Which Forms Are Due When For FY 2012, 2013 and 2014

If you have any questions, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you this fall!
