Year 3: Wave 24 E-rate Funding Commitments Listed

Don't forget to sign up for E-rate workshops for Veterans and Beginners!
Congratulations to the following 5 Pennsylvania schools and libraries
that will be receiving Year 3, Wave 24 E-rate Funding Commitment Letters,
totaling $195,480. A summary of each commitment is listed below, and
detailed information is posted to the SLD web site
www.sl.universalservice.org. The actual letters were mailed this week.
***The application window for Year 4 funds will open this fall. Don't
forget to register for one of the regional E-rate for Veterans Workshops OR
E-rate for Beginners Workshops. Details below.

Huntingdon County Library $864.00
Lenape Area Vocational Technical School $9,000.00
Marian Catholic High School $4,393.22
William Penn School District $170,225.28
Sum For State $195,480.42
Workshops
BEGINNERS
As you know, we scheduled 3 full day workshops for E-rate Workshops for
Beginners to attempt to have all 501 school districts, all AVTSs and a
significant percentage of nonpublic schools apply for E-rate in Year 4 (In
year 3, more than 100 school districts did not apply for E-rate funding.)
The beginners sessions scheduled for Harrisburg and Easton are filled to
capacity and there are only 30 seats remaining for the Nov 1 session at IU 7
in Greensburg, near Pittsburgh. Therefore, we have scheduled another E-rate
workshop for beginners in Harrisburg on November 14 at the Rachel Carson
Building (DEP), at 400 Market Street, just one block down from PDE.
If you tried to register for either the Easton or Oct. 27 Harrisburg
workshop and were put on a waiting list, you will be contacted to ask if you
would like to attend the new Nov. 14 session. There are now only 70 seats
remaining for this session. Registration should be done online at:

VETERANS
I have just returned from an SLD Train the Trainers Workshop in DC where
they announced several improvements to the program, although no earth
shattering ones. If you have not already registered for one of the 5 E-rate
Workshops for Veterans, I strongly encourage you to do so, as these changes
